Merici Da Vinci Decathlon Team wins the NSW State Comp Ideation task

Having won the Riverina regional competition, the Merici College Year 10 Da Vinci Decathlon team yesterday competed at the NSW State event at Knox Grammar in Sydney.  It was a high-energy day as always, and in a sterling effort, the Merici girls won the Ideation task against more than 60 other Yr 10 teams from across Sydney and NSW.

Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Da Vinci Decathlon Outstanding Results

The Year 7 and 8 teams competed at Canberra Grammar as usual in the ACT competition, accompanied Mrs Renee Taylor, Deputy Principal Learning and Year 12 student Jade Esler.

The Year 8s won the Ideation and Art & Poetry challenges.

The Year 7s won Art & Poetry, were 2nd in English, 3rd in Engineering and Creative Producers, and took 3rd place overall.  This is our best result in the junior competition for some years.

Open Day Thank You!

We would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution made by students which, in no small part, contributed to the success of our Open Day. Over 200 students participated in Open Day activities during the day and into the night. The students were all wonderful ambassadors for our school and we have received excellent feedback from all our visitors on your exceptional skills in conducting school tours, participating in classroom activities, and presenting dance, music and drama performances.

Merici team in the ACT’s first ever ‘Philosothon’ Competition!

On Wednesday 8 May, the Merici team in the ACT’s first ever ‘Philosothon’ competition won an impressive 3rd place overall and have earned Merici a place at the Australasian Philosothon, to be held later this year and involving schools from across Australia and New Zealand. This was a fine achievement at a high level competition. Anna Wearden of Year 10 also won 1st place from all students in her year level. Congratulations to the team and to Anna.

Student Achievements - Equestrian

Year 8 Students Charly Robinson and Lexie Young represented Merici at the recent Snowy Mountains Interschools Competition  (SMIEC) at Jindabyne. Both girls put in solid performances on all 4 days with Charly winning and placing in the 1m and 1.10m showjumping as well as gaining the overall top score in the Stockman's Challenge.

They represented Merici with pride and presented themselves and their horses beautifully.

We congratulate Charly and Lexie on their achievements.
