Year 12 Farewell Assembly 2017

To the graduating class of 2017, on behalf of your teachers, staff and students of Merici College..congratulations. As you embark on the next stage of your journey, remember the 800+ days you have spent here at Merici with fondness. You've listened and learnt, represented the College at various functions, completed assessments, played in sporting teams, sat exams, participated in events, fundraised for charities, celebrated successes, performed at school and community events, given hours and hours in Christian Service to others, cried together and prayed as a community.

Memories@Merici 50th Reunion of the Class of 1967

Over the weekend of 27-28 October 2017, the Class of 1967 gathered in Canberra to catch up and celebrate 50 years of life since our school graduation. We were privileged to have three of the nuns who taught us join in the celebrations. Mother Anita our Head Teacher, Sister Angela Mary (affectionately known as Sam) who taught us Mathematics and Sister Eugene who taught us Ancient History.  Class members travelled from Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales to join their Canberra cohorts.

Sports Awards 2017

The annual Merici College Sports Awards presentation night was held on Thursday 2 November. Throughout 2017 many of our students have taken up sporting opportunities offered at Merici.  Merici competes in up to 50 interschool events throughout the year with students displaying their talents in several of these of sports. We also have several co-curricular sporting teams, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Futsal and Snow Sports that compete in ACT and NSW weekend competitions.

Year 9 Urban Challenge - Student Reflection

The Urban Challenge was a once in a lifetime experience. Amidst selfies with dogs and never-ending barbeque line-ups Year 9 had heaps of fun but also learnt about the importance of teamwork and co-operation. Each team role was challenging in its own way and everyone had to work together to reach each day’s goals. It also taught us how to work in a group with people that we did not necessarily know.

Movember Fair

Each year Merici College holds an event in support of Movember. This year a Movember Fair will be held at lunch-time in the Indigenous Garden with lots of wonderful stalls and activities for the students. The event is aimed at raising money for programs run directly by the Movember Foundation addressing health issues faced by men in the areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.  Please support this most important cause.
