Out and About in Sydney for History

On Friday 29 March, Year 11 and 12 students enjoyed a day in Sydney visiting the Sydney Jewish Museum to learn more about the history of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, including meeting Holocaust survivor Ms Lucy Chadek, who shared her testimony of being a Jewish child in Budapest when Germany invaded in 1944, and the Nicholson Museum of Antiquities at the University of Sydney, to learn about ancient artefacts from Rome, Pompeii, Egypt and Greece.

Merici celebrates Maths Pi Day

Thank you to St Thomas More's Primary and Rosary Primary who joined in our Pi Day celebrations on Friday 15 March. Over the past two days we have enjoyed exploring the number Pi and other areas of mathematics through a range of hands on, individual and group activities. Students rotated around stations for a 45-minute session run by Mathematics staff and students.

International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Assessment and Reporting Workshop

We would like to thank our Year 7 and 8 families for attending our workshop and participating in the activities on Monday 25 February. The workshop provided information to parents and students about how the IB trial MYP has changed our approach to assessment at Merici. The session provided an overview of the MYP philosophy, focusing on concept-based learning and how we are applying the MYP framework at our college, including an explanation of the new rubrics and how assessment tasks will be structured.

Celebrating Student Achievements and Awards

It was with great pride and appreciation that Mrs Loretta Wholley and members of the Leadership Team presented academic awards to students on Monday 11 February for their achievements in Semester 2 2018.

Mrs Wholley addressed the students, recognising the achievements and hard work of all students.

“As students at Merici you are called to: Be compassionate and faithfilled young women who reach out to others and are a powerful voice for those less fortunate.
