Year 10 Creative Voices - Brigitte Sander's 'Camille's Meadow'

To continue our series on Year 10 Creative Voices, this week we showcase Brigitte Sander’s piece titled Camille’s Meadow which uses the Romantic genre to explore nature and love. As part of the English Curriculum last Semester, students were asked to write a sustained piece of prose fiction. This is the only class that offers students the opportunity to write extended pieces of creative writing.

We look forward to continuing to provide you with the opportunity to read these beautiful pieces of writing and see just how talented our girls are in English!

Our International Baccalaureate Journey Continues

We are pleased to announce that Merici College has been accepted as a candidate school* for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This means that we will be trialling implementation of the MYP in Years 7 and 8, January 2019, while we pursue authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students. This compliments our candidacy for the IB Diploma Programme which we began in March this year and are now into the authorisation process.

Year 10 Creative Voices - Aislinn McArdle's 'The Path to My Voice'

Last semester, Year 10 Creative Voices students were asked to write a sustained piece of prose fiction. This is the only class that offers students the opportunity to write extended pieces of creative writing. Over the next few weeks, we will be providing you with the opportunity to read these beautiful pieces of writing and see just how talented our girls are in English!

This week, Aislinn McArdle’s piece titled The Path to My Voice  presents a dystopian world where humans are unable to speak.

World of Maths @ Merici

Numeracy is a compulsory component of our curriculum, and to make numeracy fun and relevant to our students, today the World of Maths roadshow visited our school. This was an ideal opportunity for students to see how maths is applied to some real life situations. More importantly, students were engaged in hands-on activities that catered for all ability levels and probed their problem solving skills. The students found World of Maths highly engaging and demonstrated that Maths can be fun!
