Year 12 Chemistry Independent Projects
In Semester 2, Year 12 Chemistry students undertake an independent project on a topic they choose themselves. This year topics ranged as wide as improving the process of spherification for a recipe being used in hospitality, looking at the degradation of protein by nail glue, studying the extraction of caffeine during the brewing of coffee, looking at the effect of aspirin as a blood thinner, and studying the interaction between different kinds of cloth, dyes and mordants.
Book Week @ Merici
The theme for this year’s Book Week is Escape to Everywhere. At Merici we have had a world of fun. The iC became the Swamp with Shrek and Fiona, joined by a range of characters from various fairy tales and books escaping to the swamp. Throughout the week there have been quizzes in Pastoral Care, lunch time Scavenger Hunts, culminating today with the Dress Up Parade.
