Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Da Vinci Decathlon Outstanding Results

The Year 7 and 8 teams competed at Canberra Grammar as usual in the ACT competition, accompanied Mrs Renee Taylor, Deputy Principal Learning and Year 12 student Jade Esler.

The Year 8s won the Ideation and Art & Poetry challenges.

The Year 7s won Art & Poetry, were 2nd in English, 3rd in Engineering and Creative Producers, and took 3rd place overall.  This is our best result in the junior competition for some years.

Merici team in the ACT’s first ever ‘Philosothon’ Competition!

On Wednesday 8 May, the Merici team in the ACT’s first ever ‘Philosothon’ competition won an impressive 3rd place overall and have earned Merici a place at the Australasian Philosothon, to be held later this year and involving schools from across Australia and New Zealand. This was a fine achievement at a high level competition. Anna Wearden of Year 10 also won 1st place from all students in her year level. Congratulations to the team and to Anna.

Out and About in Sydney for History

On Friday 29 March, Year 11 and 12 students enjoyed a day in Sydney visiting the Sydney Jewish Museum to learn more about the history of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust, including meeting Holocaust survivor Ms Lucy Chadek, who shared her testimony of being a Jewish child in Budapest when Germany invaded in 1944, and the Nicholson Museum of Antiquities at the University of Sydney, to learn about ancient artefacts from Rome, Pompeii, Egypt and Greece.
