Merici Solar Energy System

This week our solar energy system was officially handed over to the school by SolarHub.

School Sustainability Captain Gabrielle Cox, several students and Merici's Sustainability Leadership Team were all present to learn about how the system works and see the data live.

As it was a cool and sunny day, our system of 276 panels at 92KW was actually providing 33% of the school's energy even though overall it is expected to average 18% of our usage. Very exciting!

Student Achievement - US National Snowboard Championships

Kasey Kelley competed in the US National Snowboard Championships last week, held in Colorado.  On Friday 5 April, she raced in Giant Slalom and finished 4th in her age group. She was against 27 other girls from all across America. The top 8 went into a shootout scenario, so she made it through a few heats to take 4th spot.

After qualifying 9th in the time trials in Kasey's main event of Boarder X, Kasey had a fall in the quarter finals, finishing 15th out of 41 girls.
