Today we gather to celebrate the end of Year 10 and prepare to embark on the next stage in your daughter’s educational journey. We also take this opportunity to recognise their successes, both academically and more broadly in their contributions to many aspects of the life and community of Merici College.
We take this time to thank the parents and carers for their support and commitment. I also thank the teachers for the exceptional learning opportunities and guidance they provide. And to give thanks for each student in this Year 10 cohort.
Our community celebrated Advent on Thursday 5 December with a very special Mass. We were very honoured to welcome our Celebrant, Fr Emil Milat from the Central Canberra parishes and Sr Genny Ryan, one of our Ursuline Sisters whose Order is instrumental to the foundation of Merici and who continue to inspire us today.

It is with the utmost privilege that Olivia and I stand before you today to congratulate and farewell the graduating class of 2019. Graduation marks both an ending and a beginning. It is the warm memories of the past but also the big dreams of the future. To our sisters, words can’t describe how proud we are of what you have achieved not only individually, but also as a cohort. As you graduate, don’t forget to thank those who helped you get here. Your teachers, peers, parents, google, Wikipedia, coffee, and copy and paste.
Congratulations to our graduating Class of 2019 on their graduation and academic achievements. We would like to thank the students for their valuable contribution to the life of Merici College and we pray that God richly blesses them as you continue your journey through life.
During this year we have celebrated the achievements of 60 years of education at Merici College. Our theme of Fidelitas has focused on faithfulness and loyalty. Merici College has helped this year group grow as “faithful” people. Possessing a strong quality of soul and strength to cope with the future.
