#MericiMoment Wall of Words – Corinne Read (Jones) Class of 2009

The word I have chosen is Independence

It’s hard to come up with one word. I loved my time at Merici and I think many of the things I was taught at Merici helped me to become an independent person and strive to achieve my dreams and goals and to never hold myself back.

Merici College Green Tip #16 - World Environment Day

Sunday June 5th is World Environment Day.

"Only One Earth" is the campaign slogan for 2022, with the focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.

World Environment Day takes place every year on 5 June.

It is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment.

Over the years, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental public outreach.

Student Achievement - Raechel McKinnon U18s Australian Softball Squad selection

Congratulations to Raechel McKinnon (Year 11) has been selected for the under 18s Australian Softball squad. Raechel was the only player from the ACT to be selected for this squad upon being noticed by scouts at the U18s Nationals, held in Sydney back in April of this year, where she was "recognised as among the best in their age group in the country.”

We look forward to hearing more from Raechel.

Merici College St Angela Merici Day 'I Will Serve'

As the Merici College community gathered on Friday 20 May for St Angela Merici Day, we celebrated the life of Angela Merici, our Patron Saint, who will be remembered as a revolutionary woman and who continues to inspire us each day.

The celebratory activities commenced in Pastoral Care with students gifting a St Angela Merici medal ‘Pray For Us’ to another student in their PC group and exploring our College theme #SERVIAM. Students remembered St Angela as an educator of women from all classes of society.

Merici College Green Tip #15 - World Turtle Day

Turtles and tortoises are important for the earth and its ecological balance.

World Turtle Day recognises the significance of tortoises and turtles around the globe.

World Turtle Day is an opportunity for awareness-raising of the issues surrounding sea turtles, and how to protect their rapidly disappearing natural habitats all over the world.

What can you do?

Avoid the use of single use plastics.

Dispose of rubbish appropriately.

Support the protection of turtles and their habitat.
