The intensive professional development course involved 35 teachers from across Australia who won fully-sponsored scholarships through a nationwide competitive selection process. The course was based in Jerusalem at the International School for Holocaust Studies, at Yad Vashem, the world’s foremost Holocaust museum.

Memories@Merici with Tam Huynh (Class of 2002)

A reflection from Tam Huynh, Class of 2002

I have fond memories of my time at Merici College and made lifelong friends during my years there. It is hard to believe that it has been nearly 15 years since graduating from Merici, but sharing milestone life events with those friends makes it hard to believe that more time hasn’t elapsed.

Debating Team makes it to ACT Debating Quarter Finals

Congratulatons to our two Year 10 teams who competed in the octo-finals of ACT Debating. Both came away with the win! Caitlin Bilton, Rosie Zielinski and Ella Carmichael won against an undefeated Radford team arguing the topic ‘This House supports a quota for Indigenous incarceration’.

Kaitlin McClory, Matisse Van Ballegooyen and Isabelle Mahon won against an undefeated Daramalan team arguing the topic ‘That patrol police officers should not carry guns.’

The girls now move onto the quarter finals next term. Fantastic effort girls!

Bridge Benefit Dinner 2017 - A Huge Success!

This event is in its third year running and was initiated two years ago by two staff members, Trish Young and Tookie Capezio, as a way of broadening the experiences of Senior Hospitality students. It also gives the students with the opportunity of providing a service to those members in our community who need our help most.  On behalf of all the Merici College community, we commend Trish, Tookie and the students on their wonderful endeavours, and congratulate them for the first-class, degustation menu that they prepared on Saturday night.

Merici College 2017 Innovative School Award Radio Interview

Merici College's Fiona Buining (Sustainability/Science Teacher), Bec DeCourcy (Sustainability Officer) and Caitlin Treble (Year 10 Sustainability student) spoke to Genevieve Jacobs, Journalist at ABC Radio, about Merici College being selected as one of Australia's top Innovative Schools for 2017 in 'The Educator' magazine. 'The Educator' received a record number of entries this year so being selected as one of the final 40 nationwide is a fantastic achievement.  Our submission provided details of our Sustainability/Healthy Canteen/Kitchen Garden Program.
