Dear Community,
I am very pleased to invite all members of our community, past and present students, staff and friends...
We would like to thank all our students on their participation at our Athletics Carnival. The day was a great success!
We have had another great week in debating with five big wins.
Our Year 8 team (Alyssia Borgia, Isabelle Dunn and Anna Mels) defeated Girls Grammar arguing ‘that Australia should become a republic’.
Our second Year 8 team (Pragnya Gupta, Lana Dexter and Stephanie Frater) defeated Canberra Grammar successfully arguing ‘that Australia should become a republic’.
Our Year 10 team (Lily Alexander, Aislinn McArdle and Samantha Trafford) defeated Burgmann arguing ‘that Maths should not be compulsory for Years 11 and 12’.

Year 8 Field Trip to Tidbinbilla yesterday provided students with the opportunity to broaden their study of the Australian landscape, develop fieldwork skills in the collection of data and record their observations during the visit.
On Tuesday 20 March 2018, all Year 8 students taking History were transported to the Middle Ages for a day of activities at school that were designed to enrich their study of the medieval past. Students participated in hands-on activities, led by teachers and other experts. They will be dressing, cooking, making art, dancing, and even practising archery, in ways that will enhance their understanding of the people and cultures of the past. Everyone had a great day learning something different about life during medieval times.
Year 7 students who were scheduled to go on camp in Tathra this week, have spent some time writing letters of support to the community of Tathra.
The camp has been rescheduled and students will be visiting Tathra for three days on Wednesday 2 May to Friday 4 May.
This week we will celebrate EARTH HOUR!
Friday is School’s Earth Hour and at Merici we will be participating through our school-wide SWITCH OFF during Period 6. We are also partnering with Solar Buddy and will be building a set of solar lights to go to disadvantaged school children living in Papua New Guinea.
The community is welcome to visit Merici in the CRLC at lunchtime on Friday to help build the lights.
Get involved at home on Saturday night as the nation switches off for Earth Hour between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.
Dear Parents and Carers of Year 7 students
Due to the fires in NSW we have postponed our Year 7 Camp.We apologise for the inconvenience, however the safety of your daughters and the staff is of paramount concern to us.
The new Camp dates are Wednesday 2 May to Friday 4 May.
I ask you to keep the Tathra community in your prayers as they unite to support each other and deal with the loss of homes.
We also pray for the firefighters and volunteers.
Kind regards
Loretta Wholley
It was a very active day around Merici College on Friday 16 March with Drama students presenting improvised performance and pop-up performances around the school to highlight that bullying is not OK and that it is everybody’s responsibility to speak up to prevent bullying. Our very first Feel Good Friday, organised by our senior students, was dedicated to Say NO! with students recognising the importance of taking action against bullying and violence.
There are so many opportunities for students to be involved in Maths this year.
