What is an IB Education?

Merici College is an IB World school, authorised to deliver the IB Diploma and candidate school* for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We are continuing our implementation of the MYP with Years 7 to 9, but what makes an IB education different?

Click here https://youtu.be/5DrB_zDF6cs to see what some of our Year 8 students have to say about what an IB education means to them:

We chose the IB MYP as it aligned well with what Merici already did well – good teaching and learning. It has encouraged us to take a more internationally minded approach to our curriculum decisions and review our assessment practices. It has allowed us the opportunity to put a focus back on the importance of learning languages as well as deliberate attention to making authentic interdisciplinary links.

‘International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes aim to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed.’ (IBO, 2020).

Natalie Fairfax – Head of IB.

Merici College is a candidate school for the MYP* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
