Tracy Keeley
Class of 1982

Business owner, university graduate and former Merici student, Tracy Keeley, has penned a letter to current Merici students, providing an insight into the journey of a successful business woman.

Tracy grew up in Canberra and is a proud graduate of Merici College in 1982. One of her fondest memories was being elected as School Captain, which ultimately started her on a path of mentoring other young women. Tracy spent 20 years shaping the minds of youth through teaching, a component of her career that she holds very dear. Never one to rest at finding a comfortable place in her career, Tracy went on to further her studies at Griffith University and has now flourished in Canberra’s hospitality realm. Tracy brought her unique vision to life when creating Bookplate, the café at the National Library of Australia and more recently Pollen, the café at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Tracy is an advocate for empowering others and relishes in opportunities to mentor other women

I am extremely thankful for the opportunity Merici College afforded me. Merici’s commitment to preparing confident and competent young women for the world beyond high school set me in good stead.

“Dear Future Triumphant Woman,

Growing as a woman is an empowering and challenging endeavour. I would like to take this opportunity to impart some of the wisdom I have encountered and which has indeed been passed onto me throughout my journey.

  • From this point forward and throughout your career and personal life, take risks, even in the face of adversity.
  • Back yourself.
  • Succeed on your own merit.
  • Build up others, there is enough pie for all of us to share.
  • Give back.
  • You can be a successful business woman and mother at the same time.
  • Appreciate others.
  • Love what you do.
  • Your future isn’t set in stone, embrace change.
  • Value education and never under estimate the benefit of continued learning at every stage in life.

I am extremely thankful for the opportunity Merici College afforded me. Merici’s commitment to preparing confident and competent young women for the world beyond high school set me in good stead.

Best, Tracy Keeley"
