Jade Esler, Year 10 student recently attended the Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation Conference as part of her scholarship. Jade has provided the following reflection.
"A few months ago I received a scholarship from the Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation. The scholarship included a $4,000 contribution to my aviation training and a mentor for one year. My mentor is Kim Herbert-Jones from Qantas. In addition, all scholarship recipients were invited to attend the annual Layne Beachley Aim For The Stars Foundation Conference and Gala dinner which was recently held on Thursday 14 September to Saturday 16 September in Sydney. I had the opportunity to participate in many different sessions with guest speakers, hang out with Layne and all of the other amazing scholarship recipients. I was overjoyed to have a surfing lesson from Layne at Manly Beach and attend a huge Gala dinner at the Hyatt where I was lucky enough to meet incredible people like Kirk Pengilly (from INXS), Samantha Armytage (from Sunrise), some of the amazing crew from Virgin Australia, and many more. It was really fun and I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the achievements and accomplishment of the other scholoarship winners.
