Captains' Welcome

We’d like to give a particular welcome to all our incoming Year 7 students and any other new students and staff, particularly our new Principal.

Welcome Merici sisters, parents and staff to the 2021 school year. We hope you’ve enjoyed your Christmas break and we are super excited to see you back at the College in February. We’d like to give a particular welcome to all our incoming Year 7 students and any other new students and staff, particularly our new Principal. Starting at a new school is always daunting, so please don’t be afraid to seek out any student or staff in the corridors if you ever feel overwhelmed or just need some directions. We are ecstatic for you to become part of our supportive, inclusive and safe College culture that has carried us through our last five years of education, and we are always here to help.

This year, our College theme is Dare to Dream. As a College supportive of everyone’s dreams, we are well aware that everyone has different dreams and goals. In our Pastoral Care, classes and general community, we aim to particularly focus on helping you to achieve at least one personal goal by the end of 2021. Our school offers many opportunities for girls of all backgrounds in sport, academics, faith, performing arts and culture across over 30 different clubs. We also have many cross-age tutoring opportunities held before and after school to help you achieve your academic best.

During this year, it is our plan to encourage you to recognise your goals and plan the steps you need to achieve them. We acknowledge that COVID-19 has made last year a hard one for all of us and want you to know that you can always approach us, any teacher or your PC teacher/House Coordinators for support. We want to help you to reach any “outside of your comfort zone” goals, be it in joining a new sporting team, seeking an academic opportunity or anything in between.

It takes courage to Dare to Dream and over the next twelve months it is our goal as leaders in our school community to help all our sisters find this courage, resilience, perseverance and gratitude needed to pursue their dreams. We wish for all of you to embrace the spirit of our patron Saint, Angela Merici, to realise the significant agents of change we, as women, can be.

We are looking forward to the year ahead, whatever it may bring, to help and watch all of you bloom into the best versions of yourselves while we further develop the comforting environment of family in the Merici culture as we welcome our new Principal to the College.
