We hope all our Year 10 students and guests enjoyed the evening.
We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to all our guests for supporting this event. Particular thanks are extended to the many businesses who most generously donated gifts, vouchers and items for our silent auction. Your support has been overwhelming!
This event is in its third year running and was initiated two years ago by two staff members, Trish Young and Tookie Capezio, as a way of broadening the experiences of Senior Hospitality students. It also gives the students with the opportunity of providing a service to those members in our community who need our help most. On behalf of all the Merici College community, we commend Trish, Tookie and the students on their wonderful endeavours, and congratulate them for the first-class, degustation menu that they prepared on Saturday night.
Here is our green tip for the week:
Today we celebrate Threatened Species Day!
Now in its fourth year, Big Sister Science Day continues to provide invaluable learning opportunities for primary school students and support to teachers in delivering Science curriculum in primary school education.
We would like to thank our fathers and daughters for attending our special evening on Friday 1 September. The evening commenced with a very special Mass celebrated by Father Bernie and followed with a wonderful meal prepared by our Senior Hospitality students. We also welcomed Dr Justin Coulson, one of Australia’s leading parenting, relationships and wellbeing experts who introduced our community to the "three Ls"; love, limits and laughter in his presentation and workshop.
A full report to follow.
It was a pleasure welcoming students and staff from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College in Wadeye, Northern Territory during this week. On Monday the students spent a day at Merici attending classes and participated in an AFL game at lunch time. On Wednesday our students; Lily Coleman, Eleanor Coleman and Genevieve Sandeman spent a rewarding morning at Tidbinbilla with the Wadeye students and Marist. The students spent time with two of the Indigenous Rangers learning about the local plants, wildlife and traditional artifacts of the Ngunnawal people.
Merici’s Year 9 and 10 Netball team has finished as the ACT Netball Champions after playing a double-extra-time scorcher against reigning champions St.Clare’s yesterday. We congratulate our students on their achievements and thank them for being exemplary representatives of the College.
